Requirements for Design Protection in Türkiye

To qualify for design protection in Türkiye, a design must meet the requirements of novelty and individual character.

A design is considered new if an identical design has not been made available to the public anywhere in the world before the relevant filing or priority date. Individual character is assessed by comparing the overall impression created by the design on the informed user with that created by earlier designs.

Design Registration Period

A registered design in Türkiye is initially protected for five years from the filing date. The registration may be renewed for additional five-year periods, up to a maximum protection period of 25 years.
